THE IDEA

When Hampshire SWAG Kelly Monk wondered how she could show support for her fiance Andrew, who as a member of the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (The Tigers) has served twice in Afghanistan, she came up with the idea of producing a charity calendar to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.

Contacting other SWAGs on Facebook, she discovered that there was a lot of interest from others to get involved - and the idea was born.

Kelly contacted top Hampshire photographer Roy Gooding and asked him to photograph the calendar for her. Between them, Kelly and Roy have produced what one elderly customer described as a 'cheeky but utterly charming calendar'.

During the summer months of 2009, the wives and girlfriends, who have partners in the armed forces posed nude for the SWAGs 2010 Charity Calendar photoshoots. The calendar is now being sold to raise money for Help for Heroes. The SWAGs are hoping to raise in excess of £50,000 and all profits will be donated to the Help for Heroes charity.

The girls dressed up to represent the part of the forces their partner is from, posing for the calendar, wearing nothing but a smile and a few strategically placed pieces of Army, Navy and RAF gear!

The photoshoots took place in local forces bases and training facilities in Hampshire, as well as many historic military forts and museums.

By getting involved in Help for Heroes the girls feel they are helping to make a difference. All the money raised will be spent by Help for Heroes to transform the lives of wounded service personnel.

All calendar production costs have now been covered from calendar sales, and the SWAGs are well on their way to reaching their target for Help for Heroes.
